In steam boilers, deposits and sludge quickly accumulate at the bottom of the vessel. The most effective way to remove these is through intermittent blowdown—a rapid, momentary discharge of water and sediment.

GESTRA bottom blowdown valves are engineered for this demanding application. The valve opens fully for just two seconds, creating a strong suction effect that clears sludge from the bottom of the boiler. Its robust design ensures a tight, leak-free shut-off once closed.

Opening the valve for longer than two seconds offers no additional cleaning benefit and only leads to unnecessary water loss.
