The ITV Drain Tempering Valve is a self-operating, thermostatic valve designed to automatically cool high-temperature effluent before it enters a drain or sewer. By mixing in cold water only when needed, the ITV maintains drain water within safe plumbing code temperature limits—protecting PVC piping and preventing costly damage from overheated discharge.
During operation, the valve’s thermal actuator senses the effluent temperature and opens the cold-water inlet whenever the discharge exceeds the set point. As the effluent cools, the valve gradually closes, conserving water by shutting off cold-water flow about 10°F below the open temperature. Compact, reliable, and maintenance-free, the ITV provides an economical solution for managing hot wastewater with consistent tempering performance, reduced water use, and code-compliant safety.
